FEMA Corps, a partnership between AmeriCorps NCCC and FEMA, is a full‑time, 10‑month, team‑based service program for young adults. Participants gain experience in leadership and emergency management while serving and supporting communities affected by disasters. FEMA Corps members primarily support FEMA through administrative and operational tasks that strengthen coordination, planning, and mission delivery.

FEMA Corps Service Includes:

  • Meal allowances, lodging, medical benefits, program-related travel, and a modest living stipend for personal expenses.
  • Eligibility for federal student loan forbearance.
  • Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of over $7,300, upon program completion, to use on future educational expenses or to pay back qualified student loans.
  • A relocation allowance to offset costs when arriving to and departing from the program.
  • Service in a team‑based structure, traveling throughout the United States and U.S. Territories to support disaster readiness, response, and recovery efforts.
  • Opportunities to work alongside FEMA staff and partners such as state emergency management task forces, city planners, and nonprofit organizations.
  • Hands‑on work experience that strengthens professional, leadership, and teamwork skills.
  • Increased confidence, capability, and readiness to serve communities in times of need.
