The VFW’s “Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship” provides service members and veterans with the financial assistance they need to complete their educational goals without incurring excessive student loan debt. Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance

Military dependents between the ages of 18 and 26 may qualify for this educational program if their service member died on active duty, was captured by a hostile force, or who has a service-connected disability. The program covers college, apprenticeships, and on-the-job training for up to 36 months. Learn more

Scholarships for Military Children

Children of active-duty personnel with a Department of Defense ID card may apply for this scholarship through their military installation’s commissary. High school applicants need a 3.0 GPA or higher while college applicants must have a 2.5 GPA or higher. Students may renew the scholarship for up to four years. Learn more

Samsung American Legion Scholarship

Children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of a veteran who served on active duty during a period of war designated by the American Legion may apply. They also must have been selected to attend American Legion Boys State or American Legion Auxiliary Girls State programs.
