How has or did the VUB program benefit you in your success as a student?

My name Shanequa Barnes. I’m a 10 year service Army National Guard Veteran. Transitioning from a soldier’s position to a civilian has had quite an impact on my life. From being homeless, to having my own place, and now becoming an IT major in college. Thanks is due to the Veterans Upward Bound program.

In what other ways was VUB helpful to you?

Since I have been a participant of the program, I have learned that veterans have a lot more resources than what we’re told.

What would you say to a fellow veteran who is considering going back to or starting school? Would you recommend they work with VUB? If yes, how and why?

To anyone who has not reached out to the VUB I advise you to contact them directly and get the help you need. They are there to assist us with any questions or issues that we may have.
